Planning Your Komodo Liveaboard Trip

Choosing the right dates for your Komodo adventure depends on your priorities. Peak season runs from July to September, when the sea is calm, the skies are clear, and visibility often exceeds 25 metres — ideal for underwater photography and relaxed cruising. These months are the most popular, so early booking is essential. The shoulder months of April–June and October–November offer excellent conditions with fewer guests, making them a favourite among experienced divers who appreciate quieter sites and more flexible scheduling.

Getting to Labuan Bajo

All Moana trips depart from and return to Labuan Bajo, the gateway town to Komodo National Park on the western tip of Flores. Labuan Bajo airport (LBJ) is well connected with daily direct flights from Bali (about 1 hour), as well as from Jakarta and other Indonesian cities. The Moana team provides complimentary airport and hotel transfers in Labuan Bajo, so your journey from plane to boat is seamless. Arrive by 11:00 AM on Day 1 for a 12:30 check-in; on the final morning, check-out is by 10:00 with flights from 12:30 onwards.

What to Expect on Board

Every Moana trip follows a carefully balanced daily rhythm of activity and relaxation. You'll wake to coffee and sunrise views, enjoy morning dives or snorkel sessions with three dedicated guides, refuel with home-cooked Indonesian-inspired meals, explore beaches and hike volcanic hills in the afternoon, and end each day with a three-course dinner under the stars. With a maximum of 10 guests sharing five ensuite cabins, the atmosphere is intimate, social, and genuinely welcoming — a far cry from the crowded day boats that ply Komodo's waters.
