Seeing Komodo dragons responsibly

A dragon walk is one of Komodo's special moments. It is a real national-park visit, led by a ranger, not a staged animal encounter.

Map of Komodo Nationalpark

What the visit is actually like

The boat anchors and you go ashore with the park team. A ranger leads the walk and gives the rules before you start. This is important: Komodo dragons are powerful wild animals, and the ranger decides where the group can go and how close it is safe to stand.

We plan it, but do not stage it

A dragon walk is normally part of the broader trip plan, often near the end of the dive days. Park access, routing, weather and the animals themselves decide the exact experience. We will not promise a particular island, trail or encounter for every departure. That would not be honest.

How to be a good visitor

Wear sensible shoes, listen to the ranger and keep a respectful distance. Do not try to get a closer photo, feed an animal or wander away from the group. The point is to see the dragons in their own place without turning the place into a spectacle.

A Komodo trip is more than the dragon walk

The walk can be a huge highlight, but it is one part of the week. Good diving or snorkelling, beaches, sunsets and time with your group matter too. We build a trip that feels complete even if conditions change one part of the plan.

Ask before you book

If the dragon walk is central to your decision, tell us. We will explain what is planned for the departure you are considering and what remains subject to the park and the day.
